A dream from South India
It was Kris Ramamoorthy’s dream of bringing his native vegetarian south Indian cuisine to The Netherlands. Being in the inbound tourism business, he believed that authentic food from Karnataka & Tamil Nadu in South India, would appeal to both the local palate as well as his customers visiting the country.
A chance meeting with Chennai based Ananthakumar Rengasamy (Anand) provided the means to translate his ideas into reality. Anand an entrepreneur with multiple business interests, also owns and runs a classic South Indian restaurant and has been doing so for over four decades in Chennai. The combination of Kris’s ideation and Anand’s knowledge of the business led to the founding of Krishna Vilas in 2018.
Our Growth Story
Krishna Vilas quickly gained a reputation for providing an authentic vegetarian culinary experience inspired by the vibrant traditions of South India. Krishna Vilas is backed by a management team with over five decades of experience in the hotel industry. Our parent company, Hotel Maris, has
been a household name in Chennai since 1975, known for its warm South Indian hospitality, excellent food, and efficient service. It is from the success
of Hotel Maris and particularly our vegetarian restaurant Anandam, that the idea of taking the South Indian food experience to Europe through Krishna Vilas was born.
